Secrets of a Legend - Exclusive Masterclass with Ve Neill

Ve Neill has been defining the make-up look of Hollywood blockbusters since the 1980s, creating both beauty looks and special make-up effects with rare versatility. Her portfolio spans decades with highlights such as Star Trek, The Lost Boys, almost all Tim Burton films such as Edward Scissorhands or Beetlejuice and blockbusters such as Pirates of the Carribean, Mrs. Doubtfire, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay and many more.

3 Oscar awards and numerous nominations confirm the importance of this true master of make-up.

A few years ago, Ve founded her own make-up school: “LEGENDS” in L.A. and began to pass on her extensive knowledge. Now she has succeeded in inviting this legend to Vienna and Berlin for 2 masterclasses. Ve Neill will share her knowledge over 5 days:


Day 1: Close-up

“No makeup” makeup and subtle, natural changes to the face caused by fatigue, cold, sun, heat, hunger, thirst, and illness.

Day 2: Making someone look younger or older

Using makeup, special effects makeup, and hairpieces, the model will first be made to look several years younger and then several years older.

Day 3 & 4: Character makeup design

Taking into account the existing anatomy, the model will be “transformed” into a character of their choice. All common makeup products will be available for this purpose, and participants can choose from a selection of foam latex parts from RubberWear™, foam noses from Kryolan, and silicone wounds to further enhance the character.
After designing and planning on day 3, the makeup is applied on day 4. The focus here is on gluing and shaping foam parts with “Pax Paints.”

Day 5: Crash and Burn

Participants learn how to create special effects for all kinds of injuries in a cinematic style, paying attention to the “continuity” of a healing injury.


At Ve Neill's request, this masterclass is run with models. Because we believe that you can also learn from such a master by listening and watching, we offer model places at a greatly reduced price. As a model, you cannot perform the techniques yourself and are asked to refrain from asking questions so as not to disrupt the learning flow of the participants. But you will see and hear everything and can benefit from everything you experience! We hope that this will also enable colleagues with less financial leeway to participate. The master class will be held in English. Supportive translation into German will be provided.
